Ruby Valentine plans to host a grand Valentine's Day party at her mountaintop house, but a blizzard keeps her guests at home. Ruby and her trusty parrot, Lovebird, decide to take the party into town and learn an important lesson about celebration.

Laurie Friedman is the author of many award-winning books for children including her newest series, The Mostly Miserable Life of April Sinclair. She also writes the popular Mallory books, a series of chapter books for 7-10 year olds.
