Creators

Atinuke is a traditional oral storyteller, and the author of over 30 books for children. Most of Atinuke’s books are set on the amazing African continent where she spent her childhood in the country of Nigeria. Atinuke is the author of the best selling fiction series Anna Hibiscus, as well theThe No.1 Car Spotter and Too Small Tola series. Atinuke also writes picture books - including the bestselling Baby Goes to Market illustrated by Angela Brooksbank. Her non-fiction book Africa, Amazing Africa is illustrated by Mouni Fedeg, and Brilliant Black British History is illustrated by Kingsley Nebechi. Angela Brooksbank worked as a designer and art director in the children's book industry before undertaking an MA at the Cambridge School of Art, and turning her hand to her own illustration. Angela says, "I am constantly inspired by children’s energy and unique response to life and hope that my work conveys some of their playful spirit."
