Perfectly Good White Boy
Binding: Hardcover
Age 13+
General Fiction
A perfectly voiced novel about being a teenager at the end of the American Dream.
Perfectly Good White Boy follows in the footsteps of Carrie Mesrobian's acclaimed debut, Sex & Violence (three starred reviews). The novel is an unsparing look at the crisis of teenage entitlement. It follows a year in the life of Sean, a high school student whose, college bound girlfriend dumps him because their futures hold "so many possibilities." Sean's suspicious of the boundless promise of the future, having seen his own parents' dreams crumble as his family teeters on the lower edge of the middle class. In the end, he thinks the only solution for the lonely, useless future he fears is to join the Marines.
