Creators
Grégoire Solotareff was born in 1953 in Alexandria, Egypt, where he spent his early childhood, moving to France with his family as a boy. He began his career in medicine then published his first children’s book in 1985. Since then he has published over 150 books for young people which have been translated throughout the world. Solotareff has also collaborated in adapting his books to film, and is a photographer and sculptor. Solotareff is active in social media and has a large Instagram following.

My seven year-old read it in the space of about two minutes, and immediately grasped its themes, and was very impressed with the story as a whole.It’s far from your typical picture book, and there’s no doubt as to why it’s considered by many to be a modern classic.
