Marnie Blue and her school friends are spending the weekend at CORAL, an activity centre in Mermaid Lagoon. There will be lots of fun things to do, like playing with the water catapult and singing round the bubble fire. Not to mention midnight snacks! Creators
Lucy Courtenay works in children's publishing and has contributed to a number of series for young readers including Beast Quest and Animal Ark, whilst more recently writing romance for young adults. When not writing, she enjoys singing, reading and travel.
Sheena Dempsey is a children's illustrator and picture book author from Cork. She has illustrated many books including Dave Pigeon written by Swapna Haddow (Faber & Faber, 2016) which was shortlisted for the Sainsbury’s Book Award. Sheena now lives in London with her husband, Mick, and her retired racing greyhound, Sandy. She loves to write and draw characters that are bursting with fun, humour and mischief.

With black-and-white illustrations throughout and accessible language, readers aged 5+ will love getting lost in this underwater world! The books all follow main character Marnie Blue as she becomes a student at Lady Sealia Foam’s Mermaid School. Over the course of the series, Marnie will learn how to come out of her shell, make friends, join the school show and sports day and even go on school trips. This is a marvellous series that explores first experiences while keeping little readers engaged with underwater magic! Lucy Courtenay is also the author behind the hit series Animal Antics.
