Paul Uhlmann
Paul Uhlmann is a Fremantle based artist who makes artwork that seeks to understand the world as a living breathing unity. Paul studied art in Australia and Europe on two scholarships – DAAD in Germany (1986-87) and Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarshipin Holland (1994-95). He has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1983 and his work is held in many prominent collections. He teaches art at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia.
He was, like his brother Chris, an army brat, and lived in many places before the family of six kids and two loving parents settled in Canberra. Paul has wonderful memories of throwing the footy around the front yard of their Canberra home with his three brothers – no rules, just swift flicks of the ball and touch tackles to his swarm of brothers, who moved with one mind, until the sun went down and free-flowing footy continued into the darkness.
